This adventure begins on the eve of the Amberfel. After taking a brief respite in the secluded sanctuary of Faelyn’s home, our heroes headed to the crimson granary to begin their investigation of the Hatrim family. As they crept closer and closer to the stone granary, the wind grew still, the grass stopped moving, and a defeating silence befell the land. Dhynia’s touch cannot be felt here, as the our heroes feel a terrible sinking feeling in their stomach. Atilla’s expert stealth skills ensured the party made it to the granary undetected, however while there was no living soul to catch them trespassing in hostile lands, what they found at the center of the granary frightened them far more than any mere mortal could.
As they slowly pushed the stone door ajar, instead of a cellar filled with grain, they are met with a strange altar. The room had 4 statues of twisted and gnarled hands, grasping up from the earth, holding a brazier of flame. The limbs were not human, they looked like a creature, unfinished. Each brazier held a riddle. Gidruk was the first to realize the keys they found on the smugglers body related to the answer of each of these riddles. Through the collective problem solving of the group, the doors were unlocked with the answers of harvest, blood, time, and god. Weyrick and Nestor in particular provided a plethora of insight into solving these riddles.
With the way unlocked a lift became active, slowly descending the adventurers into the dungeon of the damned. The staging area for a cult yet to be uncovered, our heroes pushed their way into the dungeon uncovering the secrets of Drens murder. Corrin found a frightened familiar in the remnant remains of the sacrificed. Terrified and alone, the scarf (now nicknamed scarfy) has joined the party.
Nestor was caught in a trap, but through a nimble retreat and the mysterious powers of Gidruk, no harm befell him. Bella and Weyrick worked together to disarm the trap through very different methods. Weyrick meticulously searched for each pressure plate, and used magic to methodically press each one until the trap was disarmed, while Bella threw rocks at it and danced around picking up the expended darts and rocks.
The party also discovered the cause of Dren’s murder, and who murdered him. Dren stumbled into a secret that was not supposed to be uncovered. At the beating heart of Windywisps identity was a foul secret. Amberfel, a harvest celebration of Dhynia, has been taken over by a cult, that worships a strange being called the Unmade. The leader of this group, none other that the assistant to the mayor, Iyana! Amberfel is used to sedate and magically altar the minds of the townsfolk, allowing the cult to gather travelers for the festival as sacrifices to this Unmade. For the sin of uncovering the even the slightest hint of this plan, Dren was murdered by the cult.
In the climax of the dungeon, our players entered the altar room to the wicked cult, where a 12 foot tall bone golem grew from the piles of the lost souls. The creature was daunting, but no match for our brave heroes. The only adventurer to sustain a serious injury was Bella, who petrified the bottom half of her left arm! “Don’t throw that rock” Nestor said in jest to this predicament, which caused Bella to roar into an uncontrollable laughter. While the party of adventurers left the battle mostly unscathed, they lost something far more precious than blood and resolve. Time.
Amberfel is nigh, new sacrifices will soon be taken, and the cult, already in town, knows that our heroes are onto their schemes. Can our players make it to Amberfel before the cult grabs their victims and disappears into the shadows? Will Dren receive the justice he so rightly deserves? Backed into a corner, what lengths will the cultists go to in order to achieve their dastardly goal? Our party races against the night towards our final showdown of Amberfel.
