Dhynia is the god worshiped by the townsfolk of Windywisps. She is the wind god of fortunes and individuality. She is what many would consider a folk god. No one knows what she looks like, but she is always associated with the wind. Many say that the you can see her fingers running through the blades of grass across the rolling hills of Windywisps. Worshipers also honor Dhynia through their self expression, hard work, and charity.
She’s known as the wind of fortune, bringing luck and prosperity to those who honor her. She’s the galedancer, elegantly prancing across the grassy knolls. She’s the mother of the harvest, with her winds blessing fields and fertile lands. We honor her by working hard, cherishing others, and being true to ourselves. Just as the wind is is strong and unrelenting, provides relief on the harshest of summer days, and never changes for any but themselves, we shall be the wind in her name.
iconography and religious symbols
The symbol for can be any object that has had the the flowing pattern of wind added to it. While she does not have a mural or physical form depicting her, followers of Dhynia create various objects that catch the wind in her honor. This could be as simple as a humble linen cloth tied to the outside of your home, or something far more elaborate and ornate. Since Windywisps is also a hub of expression and performance, many also display wind chimes, and other musical instruments in her honor.
Additionally, she also has a shrine at the top of the largest hill in Windywisps. A small altar is there where offerings can be made to her. It’s very common to light incense during larger offering rituals.
Rituals and Worships
Those who follow Dhynia have a few different ways to worship her. Each morning a small meal is prepared at her shrine. Her followers light a strong incense that dances with the wind, and they take part in a small ceremony in her honor. additionally, followers often give something they value to the wind as tribute to her. This could be a trinket to someone dear that they lost, wishing to bestow her guidance to them in the afterlife. It could be a gold coin or other valuable item, as a way to show thanks for the good fortune they received by her blessing.
Each year they also host a harvest festival called The Amberfel. During this time, the tenants and teachings of Dhynia is at it’s strongest.
